She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Capilano College’s Jazz Studies program in 2007, and enjoyed playing with the school’s premier ensembles – “A” Band and NiteCap – during her time there. She gigs regularly in the Greater Vancouver area, and has performed throughout British Columbia, Eastern Canada, the United States, and the French Caribbean. In 2005, she became the first recipient of the Linton Garner Memorial Jazz Award.

She has also led a quartet twice in the Vancouver International Jazz Festival (2007 and 2008) which played her original compositions and a modern jazz repertoire. In 2008 and 2010, this band – now called the Four Eyes Quartet – was nominated for the Galaxie Rising Stars Award in affiliation with CBC. Jen freelances regularly with a variety of bands and has performed in such diverse groups as the Mighty Aphrodite Jazz Band, Mother of Pearl, The Higgins, Amy Stephen and Friends, and the West Coast Symphony, to name a few. In 2006 she helped form the Company B Jazz Band, for which she both plays bass and writes arrangements. This band released its debut album in 2009, and has enjoyed success both at home in British Columbia and abroad in Washington, Oregon and California. She currently holds a regular slot every second Wednesday at Guilt & Co, a bar in Gastown, where she leads a traditional jazz band, Jen Hodge’s All Stars.  Website.
